Turgutreis is a very popular holiday destination, located in Turkey's southwestern coast, close to Bodrum Airport. It is the second largest town in Bodrum Peninsula which both are parts of Mugla Region. Every summer, the town gets extremely crowded for the reason that it includes the whole summer vacation package. From long sandy beaches, to affordable and luxurious hotels, restaurants, bars and beautiful roads full of boutiques. Turgutreis, being a well-developped tourist resort attracts both families and younger generations.
While in the city, people have the chance to admire some great views and landmarks, such as the long 2km golden sand beach, the D-Marin which is one of the biggest yacht marinas in the area of Bodrum, the Turgut Reis Statue that is the town's symbol and is named after the Ottoman Admiral with the same name, the Sabanci Park, the Painters and Artists Street, pefect for walking and shopping and the impressive labyrinth of shops around the beach area. Moreover, the Bodrum Windmills, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the Bodrum Castle, the Museum of Underwater Archeology, Myndos Gate, the Ancient Amphitheater and the Ruins of Pedasa are surely worth the visit. If you are lucky enough, you will have the chance to attend the classical music festival held on the D-Marin prestigious Marina. If not, no worries, the surrounding area is full of beach bars, galleries and restaurants that will keep you occupied as well.
Just a few kilometers on the west of Turgutreis, you can see 14 small islets along with the Greek Islands of Kos, Kalymnos and Pserimos, perfect for day trips, if you are planning on staying in the city for a few days.
